Not Your Legend

Behind every great hero is a loyal companion that doesn't get enough credit. Not Your Legend sees you playing as one such companion — a fairy in the company of a brutish warrior who wants nothing more than to hack through monsters and shovel gold into their pockets. Throw potions and distract foes to prevent your friend's untimely demise as they crawl through a three-floor dungeon in a quest for fame and riches! It may not be your story, but remember that without you, there wouldn't be a story to tell. 

Not Your Legend was developed as a part of the GMTK Game Jam 2023 with the theme of "Roles Reversed." In the spirit of the theme, this game is a reversal of perspectives within the dungeon crawler genre. The development team drew inspiration from the classic experience of being stuck as player two while a friend or older sibling gets the fun of controlling the main character. Instead of playing second fiddle to the protagonist as a two-tailed fox or sentient hat, you instead take on the vital role of a fairy sidekick with abilities to support their strong, but otherwise foolish partner. Will you help the hero defeat the terrors that dwell within the dungeon? They certainly can't do it alone...
